Papertrey Blog Hop - August 2011 - Merry Christmas

So, PTI's blog hop this month is using a photo for inspiration.  Here it is:

I have been trying to make holiday cards ahead of time so that I won't be scrambling at the last minute.  When I saw this month's inspiration image for the blog hop, I thought that the red and kraft combo of colours would make for a good holiday card!

I recently acquired the set Embellishments secondhand with the dies (yay!!) and thought I would use it.  I stamped the background with Jenni Bowlin's chili powder (love how red and deep this colour is) and then stamped the diecut with latte shadow ink overlaid with Mega Mixed Messages' sentiment in Jenni Bowlin's fountain pen.  A little cream coloured jute twine and that's it.
Supplies:
Paper: PTI kraft, Staples 110lb cream
Stamps: PTI Embellishments, Mega Mixed Messages
Ink: Jenni Bowlin chili powder and fountain pen, Hero Arts latte shadow ink
Misc: PTI Embellishments die, cream jute twine

Papertrey Blog Hop - August 2011 - miss you

Well, I finally got to try out the fabulous Mehndi Medallions set.  This little $5 set packs quite a bit of punch!  I used the smaller stamps in the background in Versamark and used clear embossing on the smallest medallions.  I had originally stamped the larger ones in latte coloured shadow ink from Hero Arts, but after heat embossing the smaller images, the shadow inked images disappeared so I went over them with Versamark again.  I then used the 2 1/2" Limitless Layers' die and popped the die cut up on foam dots to add dimension.
To add the pop of red, I used the die to cut a piece of Pure Poppy cardstock that I stamped with the largest medallion in Chili Powder ink from Jenni Bowlin and then on top of that the 'miss' from Wonderful Words additions in Fountain Pen ink (also Jenni Bowlin).  The 'you' is die cut with Wonderful Words and adhered with Tombo Mono Multi adhesive.  A little natural jute twine and voilĂ !

Supplies:
Paper: PTI kraft, pure poppy
Stamps: PTI Mehndi Medallions, Wonderful Words Additions
Ink: Versamark, Jenni Bowlin chili powder and fountain pen
Misc: PTI Wonderful Words, 2 1/2" Limitless Layers, natural jute twine, clear embossing powder,
foam dots, Tombo Mono Multi adhesive

Christmas in August!

Well, I decided to try out my new stamp set to make some Christmas cards ... yes, yes, I know it's crazy early but I have four more cards to add to my arsenal! :)

I used Maile Belles' gorgeous set Gracious Vases from Papertrey Ink.  I stamped the images and sentiments using  Jenni Bowlin's juicy inks - bright colours just perfect for Christmas!   (Chili Powder and Seed Packet) I really like how these dye inks stamp with clear stamps.  Really great coverage which is exactly what I want. The simple sentiment is from Lisa Johnson's Peaceful Garden set, also from Papertrey.  Isn't the font divine?
I decided the cards needed a little sparkle so I used Stickles on the flowers.  These are very simple clean cards so the sparkle added a little something.  This colour is a dark merlot red ... perfect for this card.
Have you started on any holiday cards or projects?

Supplies:
Paper: Staples 110lb white
Stamps: PTI Gracious Vases, Peaceful Garden
Ink:  Jenni Bowlin chili powder, seed packet
Misc: Stickles

Congrats on your little bundle

I made this baby card for my friends who just welcomed their second bundle of joy.  I love to use alphabet stamps to crate a personalized card with the baby's name.
I used PTI's Outline Alphabet, Background Basics Newsprint and the new Peaceful Garden sets.  The green layer is popped up with  foam dots to add some dimension.  I stamped the foliage stamps with Versamark to keep it simple.
I love using Signature Greetings on the inside of cards.  Such a great font combo!

Supplies:
Paper: Staples 110lb white, Gina K green
Stamps: PTI's Peaceful Garden, Outline Alphabet, BB Newsprint, Signature Greetings
Ink: Versamark, Versamagic Aspen Mist (grey colour), Jenni Bowlin fountain pen
Misc: foam dots

Peaceful Garden - a card to say hello

Here is my latest card.  I have a former student who is very ill and I send him a pick me up sorta card every few weeks just so he knows people are thinking of him.  I used the fabulous Peaceful Garden set from Papertrey and some new Zing embossing powder in aqua and sand.  Loving these colours!
Hard to see the colours show up in the picture but you can see it better in person ....
PTI's Outline Alphabet is great to make your own sentiments.  I often use Stickles inside the lines ...

ETA: I am entering this in the masculine card challenge over on Passion for Papertrey.   Love their inspirational posts!!

Supplies:
Paper: Staples grey
Stamps: PTI Peaceful Garden, Outline Alphabet
Ink: Versamark

Some new inspiration

I got some gorgeous new stamp sets and played with them.  Love, love, love!  On this first one, I used Papertrey's new Damask Impression Plate with my angled labels die.
I then stamped the Label Basics frame and then the Iconic Images silhouette.  I used the gorgeous sentiment from Peaceful Garden - I am loving this font!
I tested out my new shadow inks from Hero Arts - love them!  I only bought these two colours but they are great!

Now, for my next card:
The pitcher and flowers from Iconic Images using Colorbox Frost white ink and Jenni Bowlin inks and the fab-styled sentiment from Peaceful Garden.  Yum!  And don't you love the white ink on grey cardstock?  So crisp!  I think Colorbox Frost White Ink is fabulous!  It looks so good on dark cardstock too ...

The outline is with the Background Basics Vines set embossed in clear.  I only stamped half to get one side of the vines.

Supplies:
Silhouette Card
Paper: Staples 110lb white, Gina K chocolate
Stamps: Iconic Images, Peaceful Garden, Label Basics
Ink: Hero Arts Shadow Inks aqua and latte, Jenni Bowlin Fountain Pen
Misc: Damask Design impression plate, Angled Labels die

Hi, Xavier!

Here is a card I made for my cute little nephew.
I am loving the Background Vines stamp set from Maile Belles at Papertrey.  It is gorgeous!  I used my new Tim Holtz ornamental die and cut a large label piece to stamp on.  I did a simple layer with foam dots.  Great dimension with these.  Love Colorbox Frost White Ink  on dark cardstock- so crisp and such a nice contrast!  And my new Zing aqua embossing powder.  Yum!  Their white and clear work super well as well and I just bought a beige one too.

ETA: I am entering this card for my nephew in the new masculine card challenge over at the cool blog Passion for Papertrey.  Love their challenges and glad to join in!

Supplies:

Baby shower thank you cards

I made some thank you cards for my friend as part of her gift for a baby shower.  I used a $1 Michael's onesie stamp that I stamped on My Mind's Eye De-Lovely paper.  I snipped them with my detail scissors and popped them up on foam dots.  I did a couple of different designs.  This one uses dark chocolate card stock with the cane print impression plate from Papertrey.
The sentiments here were from a Mat Stack set.
Here are some more of the ensemble:
I used the Thanks definition cling stamp from Hero Arts as the background of the cream cards and a Paper Smooches sentiment in Jenni Bowlin Spiced tin - the perfect navy colour ink!
I used various Papertrey Impression plates on the kraft coloured cards after stamping the cute sentiment.
I made a box to hold all 8 of the cards - 4 cream and 4 kraft.  She absolutely loved them and they were a lot of fun to make.

Supplies:
Paper: Chocolate brown, Staples 110lb, My Mind's Eye De-Lovely
Stamps: PTI Mat Stack 1 Collection, Michael's onesie, Paper Smooches sentiment sampler, Hero Arts thanks definition cling stamp
Ink: Jenni Bowlin spiced tin, stick candy
Miscellaneous: various Papertrey Impression plates, foam dots, detail scissors
